We are ending our first unit. Within it students have been working on the following topics and vocabulary themes.
Numbers (and age)
Greetings and farewells
Spanish speaking countries and their capitals
Identifying male/female names in Spanish
Alphabet and spelling
Asking and sharing personal information (written, spoken, reading)
September-October (also focused on)
Aztec history leading up to modern day traditions- research projects on this
Day of the Dead traditions in Mexico and around the world
Musical Wednesdays- each Wednesday students are exposed to a new song related to the theme/topic/unit. They may be asked to listen for words they are familiar with, seek out verbs or nouns, or translate verses. They may be asked to research the band/musician- see the tours they are on, where they go, how much tickets are and what that costs in U.S. dollars if they are out of the country. They watched videos and picked up on commonalities and differences in music, culture and language.
